Hello,

how intensive is the pain during the operation?
does the anaesthesia hurt? an injection into the ear doesn't sound very nice.

Dear Guest,

During the operation, you will feel no pain whatsoever. That's a promise. One hour before you receive the injection, we apply an anaesthetic creme to the ear (called Emla). You won't even notice the stitch. From patients I often hear: "If I had known, I wouldn't have been so afraid. Going to the dentist is worse."
During the operation and for some hours afterwards you will feel no pain in your ear. If it were otherwise, we wouldn't be able to operate 12-year old children with only a local anaesthetic.

Kind regards,
Priv.Doz.Dr.med.W.Merck
