Hello Dr Merck. Im very curious about your technique and have a few questions.
How rare is it for the ears to protude again sometime after surgery?
Do you do consultations at both Majorca and Konstanz? As I would wish to see you first before deciding on surgery. Would I be able to meet or see former patients at this time?
Would I need to take time off work after surgery?
Any possibility of you or doctors using your method performing surgery in the UK anytime soon?
thank you for your time. |

Dear Zimmy,
You can read in the article " Dr Merck's stitch method: the new, gentle way of otoplasty" how rare it is for the ears to protude again and also about other possible complications involved with my method. You can find this in the front page of this forum. In it you'll also find a comparison chart comparing my method with other traditional methods. If you click on the word "comparison chart" you can read about all the complications and the exact percentages for each one.
I operate in Konstanz and in Mallorca.
I think it is quite a good idea, that you want to see me first before deciding about going through with an operation.
If you come, I can show you the ear of my surgical nurse. She had the operation 8 years ago. Today it's impossible to see that she once had a protruding ear (she only had the problem with one ear), because there are no signs of an operation (like scars, sharp edges, etc.).
The day after the operation you can go to work, if your profession demands it. You don't need to wear a head bandage.
I'm in the process of establishing an operation centre in London. Regrettably, I'm unable to say if the opening would be this year or next year.
Kind regards,
Priv.Doz.Dr.med.W.Merck |
