I would like to have my ears operated on, but would first like to know how high the risk of something going wrong during the operation is. |

To 4 lyn.
There is practically no risk that anything could go wrong during the operation with the Dr. Merck stitch method. I can claim this with a clear conscience because up till now I have operated on over 5,000 ears successfully, without any risks during the operation.
It would be different if you were genetically predisposed to haemorrhaging (a so-called haemophiliac) because then the stitches could lead to bleeding that could not be stopped. But during the informational talk before the operation, we always check whether there is such a predisposition. Of course, in such a case I would refuse to operate.
There would also be the risk of bleeding if the patient has taken Aspirin before the operation. In this case, the patient would be told to not take Aspirin anymore and to come back no earlier than two weeks later.
Best regards,
